Remembering…

….my Dad, a World War Two vet, especially this Memorial Day.

Down here at “Undisclosed Location”, aka “Amity”, our quiet little spot is invaded by the “summer people.” All of a sudden, you have to run and close your house windows for the visitors who insist on stinking up the air with their fire pits. It’s in the 70’s and they need a fire? We all have to suffer because they need a fire. To add insult to injury, there’s the visitors who I will kindly term as being 4 crayons short of an 8 Pack. They get the wettest, greenest sticks and try to burn them. When they do get some degree of success, the stench really is bad. Thus starts the unofficial start of summer.

How sad the true meaning of Memorial Day is lost to most people. Here’s to all who gave all, those who served and those currently serving.

You are the best! Thank you for your service.

Once,Twice….

….three times a Nor’easter.

According to my back deck being in “alignment ” with the Weather Channel, it would appear that undisclosed location is going to make me pull the ark back out. No problem.

It’s quiet and peaceful ,albeit wet.

After all, flowers can use the water…..

Kasia knows we’ll be walking tomorrow…..

And the two of us are safe and dry.

Kasia and I had two good walks today and snuck one last one in the drizzle. Now our bellies are full, and one of us is 💤 sleeping. I still have some work to do.

If you are in its’ path, please be careful and stay safe.

Change Keeps Coming

Above is a shot of our old house here, which we knocked down. Some things have to change: after all, you want your house to be a certain way.The “Undisclosed Location” has a certain charm to it, which is why we chose to move here.As time goes on, we see more and more houses being put up and fixed up.

Starting probably tomorrow, our neighbor’s house is going to join the group. The only problem is when our house went up, no one lived on this side of the street full time. Now, we are here and I am a little nervous at Kasia and I putting up with construction. Ideally, we have been told the builder is not going to start until 8am, so we will see how the rest of the day goes.

**fingers crossed**

Got to get some eggs, bread and milk…

Argh!

The first “retirement” snow.

We are just due to have a small amount here at Undisclosed location, and the city is due to have two to four inches.

I had to laugh because I had the Weather Channel on and if I saw it this forecast while in the city, I’d run out for eggs, bread, milk and toilet paper.

I’m retired now, so what am I going to do?

Go out and get some kidney beans so I can make a crock pot of chili for tomorrow’s dinner.

The times, they are a changin’……..

Clown College…

First, let me apologize for using my stock headache picture, but today is shaping up to fit the bill.

I have to attend a four, yes FOUR hour mandatory training class given by my employer on sexual harassment. Talk about preaching to the choir. I know that you have to do what they want you to do, but, seriously? Four hours? Do I look like a fraternity boy?

Yes I know I am getting paid for it, and in essence, it’ll be the easiest four hour pay I will make. Quite frankly, I just don’t care. I have had this “mandatory” class four times in twenty-eight years. I, hopefully, am getting out to retire to “Undisclosed Location”, and this will play a major part in my retirement.

The things we do for a check….

What a week…

This week has been awfully long for me.

It could be because I knew I would have no chance to sneak out to the Undisclosed location. The fact that my escape hatch was bolted shut, so to say, seemed to magnify the drama dancing around in my life.

But that was this week.

It’s Friday. I’m home tonite. It’s getting colder out so I have to bring the rest of the plants in. A little baking to make the house smell good is also on my agenda. Walking both the girls to keep us in shape. Turning clocks back equals an extra hour sleep Sunday. Most importantly, I’ve got my love to keep me warm.

Pretty lucky girl and I know it.

Have a good weekend.
