In the Meanwhile….

I have cleared my back deck of blooms, in anticipation of whatever comes north from Florence. I just hate to waste pretty blossoms to torrents of rain.

The rest of my deck resembles a spinach or romaine patch. Granted, summer is still here for another ten days, but the overcast weather, drizzle and rain lets you know fall is on its’ way.

My mother-in-law and sister-in-law are due down here for a visit. I am hoping the weather holds and an enjoyable time is had for all.

It’s a Family Affair

Jim’s Mom and sister Kathy came down to spend some time with us.

I know Jim enjoyed having them here, as we are a healthy drive away, and by spending the night, the time is much more relaxed and enjoyable. We went to Mass together and out to eat. Kathy and I had the girls out for a walk. Tonight we had some movie time complete with popcorn. Even my mother-in-law had fun.

She met her friend Joe, who is a buddy of Jimmy’s. They always enjoyed talking about old times. She is 98 and Joe is 94. It is always great to take in their conversations and perspectives on things.

In all, a good weekend.

Dinner

We had dinner at our friends’ house tonight. We were going to go out for dinner but stayed in and had just as good a time.

My buddy Juls belongs to a gourmet club, but that’s in another area, in another state. We just hang with our buds, have some good food and great conversation. It is always neat to hang out with friends, and to kick back and have some good times.

I never understood when my brother and sister-in-law out in the midwest said about being with close friends who become your family when you are physically away from your family. Now in this new life chapter titled retirement, I have come to appreciate what the spoke of for many years.

It’s good to have friends…we are blessed to have them.

Jazzin’ for a yard sale, or two, or three..

Weather permitting, the borough of Wildwood Crest is having major yard sales. As my sister-in-law Joanna is down, we are going to have the alarms set and are psyched to have a girls’ morning out.

We celebrated her husband’s birthday tonight with a recycled cake, meaning we’ll celebrate their anniversary tomorrow with it and Shingleman’s birthday on Sunday.Well, come on, I see you shaking your head** I see you, don’t look away** but hey, everyone is counting calories…lolImage
