Dad

Tomorrow is the nineteenth Fathers’ Day without my Dad.

It’s funny how, as I get older, certain memories of Dad get sharper. For instance, the Philadelphia Phillies were playing the Milwaukee Brewers today and the Brewers were wearing uniforms circa 1984. It was a time my oldest brother and his family lived out there, and Dad went with us to the game in the old stadium there. I called my oldest godson to talk to him and we laughed about the memory. I also wished him a happy Fathers’ Day.

I am sure Dad had the best game seats with a heavenly view today, and laughed about the same thing.

To all the Dads and ” Have to be Dads” out there, know your memories are cherished by us all.

They Know I’m Down Here….

The Philadelphia Phillies are playing tonight. I haven’t been their big fan for a while. Now, with the arrival of Rhys Hoskins on the team, well, I am sitting here watching the game .


It’s a little bittersweet for me. I had noticed that it is “Bark in the Park.” A lot of minor league teams would have fundraisers for  Pup Agencies like SPCA or Delaware Valley Golden  Retriever Rescue. When I was in the city, I always wanted to take Zush. Now that I am almost 100 miles away, the Phillies finally had one.

Terribly sad

All of a sudden Ryne Sandberg quit as the Philadelphia Phillies manager.

The Phillies originally drafted him in 1978 and he was a class player in his day;in fact he is a hall of fame player. It’s just a shame that the lousy players left couldn’t get their act together for this guy. Reuben Amararo Junior just said that Sandberg should shoulder all the blame, as it is a team action.

Phillies? Last I looked there is no “I” in team.

It is really hard to watch the Philadelphia Phillies.

It’s a cycle.

The world series was in 2008. Things were still kind of good, in 2009 and 2010.That was it.Eventually the team turned grey.Pitchers left, some of them not willingly but their condition forced them to go.They were,to put it kindly, a shell of what they were.

It would seem that the Phillies have won their past two games,and with this one that is currently on the television, they are trying for their second sweep of the season.It’s June, and they are only looking for their second sweep.

It’s going to be another LONG season.
