A Cluttered Desk , A Cluttered Mind

For those of you who read my posts and have worked with me, you could attest to the amount of things that were on my desk. Things were necessary for work, but of course I had my plants, a seven inch cut out of Queen Elizabeth II, a coffee maker , pictures of my Zush and Kasia hung up on file cabinet amidst office memos and so on..

Fast forward two and one-half years into semi-retirement. My desk is an empty sewing cabinet. My MacBook Pro holds a place of honor, as does a Penn State Christmas ball from one of my besties,Kathy. Then, after Zush left me, it became a partial shrine to her.Her paw print I made last year, the paw print the pet crematory gave me when she passed away, in addition to a ton of her pictures.

Being not truly retired, but occasionally working, there are papers and mail that come in and usually sit atop my desk until I get to the point where I just can’t take it anymore. I’ll be curious to see how long this will hold out.

Heat is back..

I have been off since yesterday and taking advantage of the arrival of heat, albeit again.

The girls and I have been taking a slow walk in the morning down to the bay and the three of us have been in the bay, trying to stay cool.Weather is constantly amazing to me, as one day we actually get a breeze, and today you can cut the hot air with a knife.Fortunately, the girls and I have been working around the heat, and I pretty much have the shady routes down pat for us to walk back on.

Jim, when he is out of his office, goes out in the heat to get some work done and it seems to make him happy.I guess he handles the heat better than I do, going back to his bakery days.I still get worried, but he claims he knows what he is doing.

Me?

I’m waiting for October.

Thankful Friday, yet again

I am so thankful for this weekend.

I still am hacking, but am looking forward to resting this weekend and getting a ton of fluids in.

We are busy at the office, and I try to keep my tuberculosis/ hack to a minimum. I mean it would be nice if my ribs would stop hurting .

Sure, I’ll feel better by Wednesday ..,. The day of my doctor’s appointment…lol

A drama-less life

This week has been chock full of drama on the job. **. Shaking my head in amazement**…

It was enough to have me take a precious vacation day, kick back with my girls, forget about slackers and the office, and get ready for the “Undisclosed location.” Hopefully Jim will be feeling a little better, and I will get some walking in with friends and the girls.

Have a nice weekend!

Do I LOOK like your mother? Seriously?…

I have had the good fortune to be employed steadily since I was 22. That makes me have 30 years under my belt of office work.

In this latest address of our office, we have two “kitchenettes”, where there are sinks and refrigerators to keep your lunch in, you know, and so on.

When I came in this morning to put my lunch away, the picture below is an accurate shot of what I stumbled across.

SERIOUSLY…..

It’s a sink that is NOT at someone’s home, and yet there are dishes that have been sitting there soaking for a bit. Maybe they are waiting for their Mom or sister or better half to come in and wash them? There are close to 200 people in this office and they may think someone might have pity on them and WASH their dishes.

Uh-huh.

**holding my breath in anticipation**
