If you have followed this blog with any regularity, you know I have an interest in the story of the Halloween gale of 1991.This is the storm that took the lives of many in the Northeast part of the country, including the crew of the Andrea Gail, a swordfish boat out of Gloucester ,Massachusetts.
Ironic that Jim and I went for a quick dinner to the Lobster House in Cape May. You really get a sense, since being down here, of the lives of commercial fishermen. Our neighbor, Nate, commercial scalloper, is gone out to sea a lot. We look out for him, and pray for his safe return.
So with today being the twenty-fifth anniversary of the sinking of the Andrea Gail, let’s all be mindful of “they who go down to the Sea in ships”…and keep a good thought to all who risk their lives to bring food to our table.
It’s 7:48pm and I have 8446 steps logged on my fit bit zip.
It’s too damn cold out.My girls have had to put up with the yard today.I wasn’t happy about doing it, nor were they to go out without me walking with them.Jim and I stepped out for a quick bit to the Lobster House to pick up a belated take out dinner. That afforded me a few steps in actual comfort but I am officially addicted to my fit bit zip.I can’t sit quietly all day because I know I have to get my steps in.
It’s going to be a long day tomorrow too, but we’ll see what’s up. I want to watch the SNL special so I have to go “house-walking”.
Jim’s nephew, Tom, is forever announcing one thing to us.
We are so lucky in living so close to the Lobster House restaurant. He feels it is the best restaurant.
We went to dinner tonight and actually went to the coffee shop at the restaurant, and there was a daily special for $9.95, which was stuffed pork roast, mashed potatoes, gravy and vegetables. Not bad. Evidently they have a special every day of the week, and as the waitress was telling us, it was the same food coming out of the same restaurant that takes care of the actual restaurant. It’s something only the locals know about.
Ooops…now you know!
It was nice to have some quality time with the girls today while getting ready for the weekend. There were plenty of chores to do and it was so easy to have interspersed dog life with household chores. Zush even got a bath this morning to ease itchy skin, so she got an oatmeal shampoo .
We shared a wonderful dinner tonite with our friend Vida and her Mom at the Lobster House. We had broiled shrimp stuffed with crabmeat and it was fabulous. A pitcher of adult beverages accompanied it and the meal and the company and the meal gave a whole new dimension to summertime and the living is easy!
Have a great weekend!
