Cutthroat Kitchen Holiday

I usually make chocolate covered pretzels and peanut butter cups and candy bars for my neighbors as their Christmas present. I even made pizelle and chocolate chip cookies this year. Well, tonight,I finished it all up.

To relax I put the food network on and am watching my favorite show,Cutthroat Kitchen. Now they are running the holiday versions of the show.

I have enjoyed Alton Brown, the host, from his early days on the network, especially for his wit.The premise of the show is to get four chefs and put them through a ton of sabotages. In short, when your back is aching from working in the kitchen, watching these chefs takes the ache away because you’re laughing a lot.

The Morning After

Because of the girls needing their medicine, I was offered Thanksgiving dinner by my sister,Georgine. She adopted me when we first met 6 years ago, and she loves our girls.

The company was wonderful: it never ceases to amaze me what you learn from people you just meet. There were some friends there who I already knew.

Everything was home made from the ham to turkey to lasagna to cranberry relish.I don’t know when I last laughed that hard.It was one of the most memorable Thanksgivings of my life.

Exercise Modified

The nicest thing about doing my flip fitness class is that it is adaptable.

There is no drill sergeant maligning you step in line in unison, and things go that nature. In fact, Jackie, my instructor, is one of the most pleasant women I know.Since I had my cancer cut out last week, I had to be really careful with the right side of my neck. The stitches are in and I couldn’t have anything loosen up. Flip fitness allows me to modify my movement and baby the bad part, while exercising the rest of me.I am glad that I have the ability to attend this class: the friendships I have formed and the laughter is almost as full of exercise as the exercise itself. Sometimes in class I have never laughed so hard.

Jackie had said to me that while going through the medical trial that I am now, it is good to come to class because it lets your mind unwind.

My body doesn’t mind it either!

A good tired.

I went to my Flip Fitness Class tonight and boy am I beat.

It’s a good thing: it gets me off the sofa and out of the house and with a bunch of friends and we are all in the same boat. What is really funny is that after we have been together for a while, we start laughing between each other and talking about stuff and it was nice to hang with folks like me.

I am glad that my friend Kathy got me into going to class.I am ready to go to bed once I finish this, because I am tired in a good way.
