The girls and I just weren’t feeling it today.Yes, we did go swimming yesterday but it they went again today, Id have to give two baths and that just wasn’t happening.
We walked some and tried to catch up with Kale, Zush’s boyfriend.Unfortunately he wasn’t around, so we just walked around taking in the fresh air and sunshine. I think I need to have a really GOOD night’s sleep, and maybe my energy level will jump up. This “tired” nonsense is a little too much.
We’ll lay low tonight, and hopefully, tomorrow will be a livelier day.
We got down to Undisclosed and one of the first things that we peeked at was our, er rather, Compostman’s, growth tower.
Thanks to the compost tea and the rain, our beans are really getting their legs, the kale is getting up there, as well as the tomatoes and cucumbers and the rest. Even the little garden box that he made with cucumbers and squash is rolling along. We are pleasantly surprised at what has been accomplished in our little stretch of time.
We are getting hopeful about what will actually become a crop for us this year and what we will learn in time for next year.I think that this is one door that we are both equally glad that we have opened!
We got to Undisclosed today and found a few more tomatoes ready to offer their lives up for us!
They got to get to that rich tomato color so I knew it was time.We had burgers with lettuce, tomato and onion on them and they were great.
We checked into the progress the organic grow tower was making and we saw some great strides being made by the beans, especially. The tomatoes and peppers are chugging along and the kale is getting there. It has to be the composting, because at out old house, we never composted. You can see the difference in the growth here. Compostman has worked his magic!
The problem now is that people want us to deliver up to the city.Hah. What we grow we are keeping, and then the family will share in the rest. We have to step up our production if we want to bring them back to the city.
So Jim, aka Mr.Juice, wasn’t interested in one this morning,so I made mine last night.
This morning, I am enjoying the combo of kale, spinach, celery, strawberry, mango and blueberry, made with the press of my own little finger…lol. I can actually say I am enjoying it. Jim tends to be a little heavier on the greens than I am but I figure in order for me to drink it, well, it better be palatable.I think Jim gets a little annoyed, although he has been know to chuckle, when some of the juices he gives me make me turn toward him after first sip, and pronounce-needs vodka!
My other go to is Stoneyfield’s organic fat-free chocolate yogurt.I put it in my freezer and as it defrosted, I eat it.Not a Hershey bar, but it does scratch the itch.
Jim made juice from the power bullet last night and we had them for
dinner..they actually were rather tasty and pleasant.
We had enough that I brought one into work today for breakfast and guess
what? The kale, cucumber, carrot and apples make a great combination and
I really even don’t have the urge to go to the Keurig and make a tea.
We need to get back to where we were before the move, when we were
actively juicing. It made me feel more energetic, calmer, and my stomach
handled it well.It is hard because when everything is rush and you
are stressed, it’s the last thing you are looking for.
All I have to say is that it’s worth it!
“…a lot of grapes…”
That’s what Shingleman just called in from the kitchen.
We are on day 17 of juicing our one meal a day. It’s been an awakening. I for one, hate to write this, let alone say it,**whispering**… I feel good!
We have been doing kale, celery, cucumber ,grapes, lemon, carrot and apple. Our “desert” is raw I salted walnuts, unsalted shelled sunflower seeds and flax seed. We eat the seeds as if we were eating a small custard cup.
This has been an accomplishment. I think we are going ok!
