One of my favorite movies that I used to share with my 95 year old friend was on today!
“Donovan’s Reef” came out in 1963. I remember being in grammar school and the nuns treating us to this movie in 1972, when I was in 7th grade.
Starring John Wayne, Elizabeth Allen, Lee Marvin , Cesar Romero, and Dorothy Lamour ,among others, it is a cute movie of the period.
The only ” issue” in the movie is when the doctor’s daughter from Boston is meeting her step-sisters and brother, and the audience is wondering, in 1963, if she’ll accept them because they are half Polynesian. My, how time’s flown.
So if you are looking for a cute chuckle of a movie, catch “Donovan’s Reef”. You won’t be sorry.
